Jenny is a native New Yorker and loves practicing Yoga with her neighbors in this amazing city! She received her 200-hour RYT Certification in 2004 at the beautiful Shoshoni Ashram in Boulder Colorado. Since then she has taught in many wonderful places including New York Yoga, Carnegie Mellon Acting Conservatory (where she received her BFA in acting in 2005), and the Williamstown Theatre Festival where she was resident Yoga Instructor. Last year she founded the Yoga Co-op in midtown, a class created to provide affordable Yoga to the performing arts community.
Jenny feels so blessed to be working towards her 500 hour Advanced Certification with her beloved Teacher Shiva Rea. Her own approach to teaching is inspired and deeply influenced by Shiva’s innovative “Vinyasa Flow” method.
Jenny’s classes draw inspiration from the great poet and sage Rumi:
Your essence is gold hidden in dust
To reveal its splendor
You need to burn in the fire of Love.
She hits the mat to burn in the fire of Yoga and sweat it out in the name of Love and Peace. She teaches a passionate, flowing, and VERY playful class and is so grateful to each and every student she has the gift of practicing with.
Shiva Rea and The Flow
Shiva Rea is the creator of Prana Flow Yoga, a style of Vinyasa Yoga that evolved organically out of her decades of Yoga Practice and Teaching. Its root is in the fact that our bodies are not “solid”, but made primarily of water and energy, which Yoga calls “Prana”. Prana Flow is a philosophy of Yoga Practice that stems from the breath and the way bodies naturally want to move. The Flow can be fast paced and strong or deliciously slow, but it is always organic, fluid, and full of freedom.
